Message from the Rector
Welcome to ITESO, a community made up of 12 thousand undergraduate, graduate and continuing education students; 1500 faculty members, and over 30 thousand graduates who have been contributing, through their professional practice, to the development of the region and the country, as well as to the communities and fields where they work. .
By becoming part of this community, you join an organization of 228 Jesuit universities around the world, which share the nearly 500-year-old educational tradition of the Society of Jesus.
At ITESO, our purpose is for you to become someone who is committed to the promotion of justice, who is willing to procure the construction of a more humane world and is capable of generating scientific and technological knowledge, to use it in the service of society; someone who is prepared to dialogue with different cultures, religions and lines of thought.
These aspects give us our identity as a university that is committed to the urgent needs of disadvantaged individuals, organizations and sectors, while being called upon to address issues in different professions, to innovate and find solutions, and to contribute to the formulation of public policies that help to enhance people's quality of life.
Our campus has the ideal conditions to achieve these objectives, and it gives you the opportunity to study in an environment of freedom and ongoing learning.
We have one of the biggest libraries in western Mexico, a place where students and academics can do research, class assignments and projects based on solid documentation. We also have state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops, where you can experiment, generate knowledge and develop projects alongside experienced researchers. We also have business incubators and programs that support entrepreneurship, designed for you to implement business plans and social innovation projects.
University life also involves healthy physical activity and sports; our campus has professional-caliber athletic fields and courts, a gymnasium, and experts to show you, the professors and the university staff how to take care of their health and improve their physical condition. In addition to this, ITESO offers a wide array of cultural activities on campus and at Casa ITESO Clavigero: music, poetry, visual arts, talks with writers and scientists, and artistic courses and workshops.
I invite you to join this community, the Jesuit University of Guadalajara.
